An experienced teacher as well as a professional singer, Ruth is committed to providing inspirational musical experiences for young singers. As choral director at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School (2005-2009), she prepared her choirs to perform such choral masterworks as Vivaldi's Gloria, Schubert's Mass in G, and Rutter's Gloria. The LSRHS Chamber Singers ensemble was awarded a gold medal for superior performance at the 2008 MICCA Choral Festival, with an invitation to perform at Boston's Symphony Hall. In 2009, the LSRHS Mixed Chorus was invited to Carnegie Hall, where they performed Rutter's Gloria under the direction of composer John Rutter with the New England Symphonic Ensemble.

A member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Ruth has taught private voice and piano lessons for more than eight years. Her students have frequently been selected for All-State and Regional Honors Choirs and have successfully auditioned for high school and college-level select ensembles. While her students range in age from 4 to 64, she specializes in preparing advanced high school singers for college music auditions. Her students are currently singing in choral ensembles at Wellesley College, Hartt School of Music, Miami University of Ohio, Hamilton College, Westminster Choir College, and Bucknell University.

Ruth has been music director for a number of musical theater productions at both middle and high school levels. Her production credits include Beauty and the Beast, Jr. (ECMS Theatre Troupe), Kiss Me Kate (Lincoln-Sudbury High School LSB Players), Into the Woods (Lincoln-Sudbury High School LSB Players),Tommy (Brookline High School Summer Stage), Guys and Dolls, Jr. (ECMS Theatre Troupe), Fiddler on the Roof, Jr. (Ottoson Middle School), the first annual LSRHS Idol Competition, and the first annual Renaissance Madrigal Dinner (LSRHS Chorus).

Founder of the children's interfaith choir for the annual interfaith Thanksgiving service in Sudbury, Ruth has directed children's church choirs for the First Presbyterian Church of Spokane, WA and the Presybterian Church in Sudbury, MA. As interim music director at Memorial Congregational Church in Sudbury, Ruth served as choir director and organist from January to June 2009.
